Spanish-American War M1878/04 Haversacks were used during the war against Spain where the US gained possession of Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines and ended Spaish rule in the Pacific.

They are of simple design with a main large pouch, two internal side pouches, and a small pouch on the inside of the flap. These do not come with the shoulder strap, which would be attached to the backside. Many of these have painted squares on them, which I could not find the reason for it.

These are over 100 years old and will show signs of wear and tear. They come in a wide range of conditions in which you will be able to pick from three different grades.

Grade 1 will be in overall good condition with expected wear, staining, fraying, and small holes.

Grade 2 will have one or two large tears or holes. Aside from these issues, the bags will be in good display condition.

Grade 3 will be in very rough shape. Some of the haversacks will look like it was attacked by a machete, others will be close to falling apart, and overall will be unuesable. Although these are in very rough shape, most appear to be the only ones with visible unit markings.
